I was lucky enough to find your site and especially lucky to have found a family history of John Henry Bridge and Alvira Dickson Bridge written by Avilda B. H. Coleman.
Of course the story itself is fascinating, but then to be able to understand that these were people that my grandfather actually knew was absolutely awesome (to quote my grandson)!
I would love to get email from anyone who knows the Bridge family or are members of the John and Mary Berry Bridge family. Of course, as always, there is a reason for this madness -- to hopefully find a photo my great-grandmother Martha Anne Bridge. As far as anyone in the US can determine there are no known photos of her here --- but since her mother left with Martha's brother to emigrate to Magrath, someone there might have a stash of old photos with maybe one of her in it.
My family and I would be forever gratiful. It would be wonderful for my uncle and mother (who are both getting older and are ill) to know what their grandmother looked like especially since she died when my grandfather was only 11 months old, and he never had a memory of her.
I would also like to thank Avilda Coleman for the wonderful thoughtfulness to put the story of her family on the internet so others like me can understand what brave and pioneering people they were.
